Aarica Smith is an independent voting member on the MCPA Executive Board. Her experience in the indoor percussion world includes performing with Motor City Percussion for several years. Aarica is currently a Legislative Analyst for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Previously, she was the Legislative Director for State Senator Dayna Polehanki, as well as the Legislative Director and Constituent Services Director for State Senator David Knezek. Prior to her work with the Michigan Senate, Smith was the Campaign Manager for Wassim “Dave” Abdallah for Dearborn Heights City Council.

Aarica is a graduate of The University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she majored in International and Hispanic Studies and minored in Global Cultures. Her political volunteer work includes many local and statewide campaigns.
